About The Event

A workshop on "Replica Creation of Archaeological Sculptures (Plaster Cast)" was organized at Chaitanya Science and Arts College, Pamgarh, from 23rd Dec - 31st Dec 2024, aimed at providing students and participants with hands-on experience in the traditional art of creating replicas of ancient sculptures. The event was a collaborative effort by the Department of History and Archaeology and the Fine Arts Department.
The session was conducted by Mr. Sanjay Jhabarde, a skilled artist and expert in plaster casting and his team members from Cultural department, Directorate of Archaeology and Archives, Government of Chhattisgarh, Raipur.
During the workshop, participants were introduced to:
1. The basics of creating molds from original sculptures.
2. Techniques for preparing and pouring plaster into molds.
3. Methods for finishing and detailing to achieve realistic replicas.
This workshop not only fostered creativity and skill development among the students but also served as a reminder of the significance of preserving and promoting India’s rich archaeological heritage.
