Department of Forestry Promotes Coexistence and Science-Based Wildlife Safety on Nag Panchami
On the auspicious occasion of Nag Panchami, the Department of Forestry at Chaitanya Science & Arts Autonomous College, Pamgarh, in collaboration with WWF-India, organized an interactive Snake Awareness Event to bridge traditional reverence with scientific understanding, reduce human-snake conflict, and promote reptile conservation. Students and faculty participated in informative sessions focusing on identifying common venomous and non-venomous species of Chhattisgarh, understanding essential first-aid protocols for snakebites, and recognizing the critical ecological role snakes play as natural pest controllers in local ecosystems. Through expert talks, visual demonstrations, and interactive Q&A discussions, this joint initiative successfully debunked popular superstitions, discouraged harmful rituals, and empowered the college community to foster peaceful coexistence and true protection for these vital creatures.
