The Computer Science Department of Chaitanya Science and Arts College, Pamgarh, celebrated Computer Literacy Day on Monday with a series of enlightening events. The program commenced with the ceremonial lighting of a lamp before the statue of Goddess Saraswati. Professor Dhaneshwar Suryavanshi introduced the objectives of the event, emphasizing the importance of computer literacy in transforming societal perspectives and preparing future generations for a digital world. He highlighted that Computer Literacy Day aims to promote awareness about computer education and its role in equipping individuals with essential skills for both personal growth and societal development.

Assistant Professor Salik Ram Yadav discussed the history of Computer Literacy Day, noting its inception on December 2, 2001, during the 20th anniversary of NIIT when India’s former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee advocated for computer education among parliament members. Assistant Professor Indra Patel elaborated on how computer literacy goes beyond technical knowledge, reshaping thinking, problem-solving, and working methodologies, ultimately contributing to a stronger society.

Assistant Professor Pragyash Kumar underscored the relevance of digital skills in the modern era, explaining how computer literacy empowers individuals to use software applications, navigate the internet, and access vital information resources. Laboratory Technician Sarojmani Banjare also addressed the gathering, reinforcing the message of technological empowerment.

The event included an online quiz competition, in which students enthusiastically participated and were awarded certificates. Several students also shared their perspectives, highlighting the transformative impact of computer literacy. The college's Principal, Dr. V.K. Gupta, and Director, Virendra Tiwari, praised the initiative, recognizing its value in promoting digital skills and reducing the digital divide. The program saw active participation from the Computer Science faculty and a large number of students.
