About The Event

Ozone Day was celebrated under the joint collaboration of Department of Chemistry, Department of Botany and Department of Zoology of Chaitanya Science & Arts College Pamgarh on 16 Sep 2019. Dr. Narendra Nath Guria, Head of Geography Department was invited as the keynote speaker in the program. Mr. Rishabh Deo Pandey was coordinating the program and gave the outline of the theme “32 years and healing”. After that he delivered brief information about the history of World Ozone Layer Protection Day. Mr. Nand Kumar Dadsena Department of Botany gave his views on ozonosphere. He also spoke about the Montreal Protocol, established for the protection of the ozone layer. Highlighting the importance of the ozone layer for the world, he spoke about the global efforts made so far for its conservation and drew the attention of the assembly to important facts. On this occasion, a documentary depicting the events from the origin of the earth to its present form in a sequential manner was shown to the members. Dr. Guria gave a succinct view on the other important topic related to the depletion of the ozone layer, the greenhouse effect, global warming. He also spoke about the process of formation and breakdown of ozone molecule. He discussed the ill effects of global warming and said that due to the changed weather conditions, agricultural work is being affected and the number of farmers is declining. Keeping a point-wise view on the measures to conserve the ozone layer, he called upon the students present in the meeting that every student must plant a sapling. He urged the students to plant more and more trees and reduce the use of ozone-depleting equipment. A group of M. Sc. Botany students recited a poem underlining the importance of the ozone layer. Pallavi Lahare, a B.Sc final student, performed a sketch on today's theme with a slogan to save ozone. All the College staffs and 200 students were present in the program.
