World Water Day was celebrated on 22 March 2022 under the joint aegis of Department of Chemistry and Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Chaitanya Science & Arts Colllege Pamgarh. A one-day workshop was organized on this occasion. Dr. ALS Chandel, Head of Department of Chemistry, Government E Raghavendra Rao Postgraduate Science College, was invited as the keynote speaker of this workshop. The program was started by lighting the lamp in front of the statue of Mata Saraswati by the Chief Guest. In the course of welcome, the co-coordinator of the program Mr. Devanand Sahu honored the chief guest by giving a bouquet of flowers. At the beginning of the program, the program's coordinator, Mr. Rishabh Dev Pandey, made the gathering aware of the purpose and outline of the program. After that, a painting based on the theme of this year's Water Day made by the students was exhibited. After the exhibition, the attention of the gathering was drawn towards the ill effects of water crisis and the remedies for water conservation through a power point presentation by Chandrabhan Pradhan, a student of M.Sc. Chemistry fourth semester and President of the Council of Chemistry. 
           Keynote speaker Dr. ALS Chandel said that there should be a change in the policies of water conservation. Expressing concern about the drains that are losing their existence due to encroachment in rural areas, he said that there is a need to revive water sources like ponds. To recharge the underground sources, along with rainwater harvesting, it is necessary to keep the soil at the bottom of the drains.
Comparing the condition of the Arpa river in the eighties and the present situation, he described water conservation as essential. He told through various examples that availability of pure water is essential for good health and good economic condition. Mr. Veerendra Tiwari, the director of the college while addressing the gathering asserted on the urgency of water conservation for sustainable living and said that committees with adequate strength and resources will have to be established in urban and rural areas, especially for rainwater harvesting. Educative programs will create awareness will be spread among the common people to understand the importance of ground water conservation. The Principal of the institution, Dr. V. K. Gupta also addressed the gathering. He said that the system of community management can prove to be very important to deal with the challenges related to scarcity of ground water in urban as well as rural areas.
    In the North-Eastern states of India, the system of recharging ground water by collecting rainwater through individual level and community participation has been in existence for a long time. Similar efforts will have to be made to have such a system in other parts of the country as well. Dr. Rakesh Soni, Head of Department of Zoology and Dr. Harishankar Prasad Rajak, Head of Department of Botany also addressed the gathering. Shalu Aggarwal, a student of M.Sc. 2nd semester, Harish Tode and Nageshwar Kashyap, a student of B.Sc final, also expressed their views on the ubject. A painting competition organized on this occasion, PGDCA student Nilamani Devdas bagged first position, M.Sc., second-semester chemistry student Kanupriya Banjare secured second position and B.Sc. second year student Jyoti Srivas and B.Sc. first year student Khushi Kashyap jointly third. got the place.  In this way, in the speech competition, Shalu Agarwal, a student of M. Sc. 2nd semester, Nageshwar Kashyap, a student of first, B. Sc. final, second and Harish Tode, a student of B.Sc. final, got third place. The winners were honored with certificates by the chief guest. The program was conducted by Ms. Deepti Suman, a student of M.Sc. IV and the vote of thanks by Pallavi Lahare, a student of M.Sc. IV. Dhanesh Surya, Head, Department of Computer Science, provided technical support throughout the programme, all the professors, officers, employees of the college and a more than 100 students were present in the program.
