Under the joint collaboration of Botany and Zoology departments of Chaitanya Science & Arts College, a ten-day value-added course was organized from July 5 to July 15 on the topic of innovative approach to prepare home labs for biological education. On the first day of the program, Prof. Arunan, retired professor of Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education and current coordinator of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, was associated on the virtual platform as the keynote speaker. Veenapani Dubey, retired professor of CMD College, Bilaspur was present as a special guest in the program. The program was inaugurated by the Principal of the college Dr. V.K. Gupta, the director of the college, Virendra Tiwari and guest Dr. Veenapani Dubey by lighting the lamp and offering lotus flowers in front of the statue of Goddess Saraswati. Dr. VK Gupta, Principal of the college gave the welcome address. After that, the coordinator of the program, Assistant Professor of Botany Department, Satrupa Gond informed all the participants present in the meeting about the subject matter and outline of the course. The keynote speaker Professor MC Arunan, while giving the basic information of Homelab in his speech, said that Homelab is similar to Gully Cricket, it means that just as we do not need any fixed ground to play cricket. Special guest Dr. Veenapani Dubey said that we can observe the life cycle of a plant, its various stages and biological activities at our own home. As the keynote speaker on the second day of the program, Kiran Yadav from Collaborative Understanding Biological Study guided the participants through online medium. On the third day of the program, as the keynote speaker, Government M.M.R. Head of Department of Zoology of Post Graduate College Champa Dr. VM Aggarwal gave three-stage interaction in ants and on the fourth day he explained about various methods of estimation and conservation of ants. Abhijeet singh, cubist of Homi Bhaba Centre for Science Education Mumbai and Misbah Sheikh, cubist of Homi Bhaba Centre for Science Education Mumbai explained different experiments of Home lab. On the fifth day of the program, a field visit was conducted under the guidance of Dr. VM Aggarwal at Ropdi, located in village Mudpar. During this, Dr. Aggarwal apprised the participants about the methods of sample collection and its preservation. During this various types of plants and insects were collected.
