The One-Day Seminar on Innovation, Research, Entrepreneurship, and Academic Perspective of Intellectual Property Rights, held on June 8, 2022, achieved its goal of enlightening 200 participants about the importance of intellectual property rights (IPR) in fostering innovation, research, and entrepreneurship. The event featured distinguished speakers, including Dr. S. Karmakar, Director General of Chhattisgarh Council of Science and Technology, Raipur, and Dr. Amit Dubey, Senior Scientist, as well as Dr. Rahul Sharma and Dr. Garima Tiwari. The program was presided over by Mr. Veerendra Tiwari, the Director of the institution. The seminar commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp in front of the statue of Mata Saraswati. Dr. V. K. Gupta, the Principal of the institution, introduced the guests and provided a welcome address, outlining the program's theme and objectives. Chief guest Dr. Karmakar, addressing the gathering through an online meeting app, emphasized the value of intellectual property, considering both individual and collective perspectives. He highlighted the global awareness and importance of IPR, noting that India is a signatory to international treaties related to IPR. Mr. Veerendra Tiwari, the Director of the institution, stressed the need for awareness among local artists and creators regarding their intellectual property rights, emphasizing the potential benefits of the seminar for these individuals. Special guest Dr. Garima Tiwari highlighted the role of IPR in promoting innovation and national development. Dr. Rahul Sharma discussed the government's efforts to support innovation in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through Intellectual Property Facilitation Centers. Keynote speaker Dr. Amit Dubey provided historical context for IPR and detailed the various aspects of patents, copyrights, trademarks, and design terms under Intellectual Property through a comprehensive presentation. He also discussed the working methods and vision of Chhattisgarh Council of Science and Technology. The program concluded with the director of the organization, Mr. Virendra Tiwari, honoring the guests with mementos, and Dr. Mahendra Sahu expressing gratitude through a vote of thanks. The event was conducted by Assistant Professor Rishab Dev Pandey, with technical assistance provided by Assistant Professor Dhaneshwar Suryavanshi from the Computer Department. The program saw active participation from all college staff and over 200 attendees, effectively promoting awareness and understanding of intellectual property rights and their role in fostering innovation, research, and entrepreneurship.
