An invited Talk on Static livelihood development based on local bio-resources organized by Chaitanya Science & Arts College, Pamgarh on the topic of static livelihood development based on local bio-resources under the joint auspices of the internal quality assurance cell of the college and the Science Association under the Amrit Festival of Independence. On this occasion, Ayurvedacharya Dr. Nirmal Kumar Awasthi, Secretary, Chhattisgarh Traditional Healer Organization was invited as the chief guest. As a special guest in the program, Dr. Garima Tiwari, Assistant Professor of Forestry Department of Guru Ghasidas University and Director of the organization Mr.Veerendra Tiwari were present. The program was presided over by the Principal of the institution, Dr. VK Gupta. The program was started by lighting the lamp in front of the statue of Mata Saraswati by the guests In the order of welcome, the chief guest was welcomed by the director of the institution, Virendra Tiwari, with a bouquet of flowers. Dr. Garima Tiwari gave the welcome address. Introducing the chief guest, she apprised the gathering about the purpose and outline of the program. While linking the program's theme with biodiversity, conservation of natural resources was essential.
Director of the organization Virendra Tiwari while addressing the program said that it is the need of the hour to accept the traditional system of medicine. Traditional medicine includes the diagnosis of almost all types of diseases. Addressing the gathering with the pleasure of the chief guest, Ayurvedacharya Dr. Nirmal Kumar Awasthi said that the essential condition for the development of any nation is the health of its human resources.
Health only man can be able to give his participation in developmental activities with full energy. He said that the natural resources found locally are very important for the livelihood of the local residents. In the near future the availability of natural resources has increased.
Natural resources cannot be made with money. In such a situation, while saving the natural resources for the coming generation, we have to exploit the resources only according to the need of the present. He told that the incident of getting full recovery from traditional medicine only after getting injured in an encounter with militants while serving in the Paramilitary Force proved to be a motivator to take forward the work of traditional healers.
He informed that a total of 1525 medicinal plant species were found in Chhattisgarh. Dr. Awasthi inspired the students to make indigenous fertilizer and seed bank. He told that doing dairy business with desi cow is a good source of income. He gave interesting answers to the questions asked by the students. After the address of Dr. Awasthi, the Principal of the institution, Dr. VK Gupta honored him by giving him a shawl, Shriphal and a memento. At the end of the program, Principal Dr VK Gupta, while addressing the gathering, expressed his gratitude. In his address before the show of gratitude, Dr. Gupta said that knowledge gives a better life. Knowledge is our destiny. The process of traditional knowledge transfer should continue. We can achieve the goal of static development only by following the laws of nature. He committed to upgrade and establish a seed bank in the herbal garden of the college campus. The program was conducted by Rishab Dev Pandey, Assistant Professor of Chemistry. Technical assistance in the program was provided by Dhanesh Surya, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science. All the faculty members, more than 70 students and a large number of local villagers were present in the program.
